Description

Postdoc Individual Development Plan Workshop

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

An Individual Development Plan (IDP) is a dynamic document that identifies and outlines career goals and is a tool to manage career development during your postdoctoral training period. Research has shown that having a structured postdoctoral training program correlates with a successful postdoc experience1, which the Office of Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholar Affairs strives to provide for all UC San Diego postdocs.

This interactive workshop will provide assistance on creating your IDP, assessing your skills, working with mentors and setting realistic and achievable goals. Each postdoc will have the opportunity to develop and present his/her IDP to faculty participants for feedback, and by the end of the session have a completed IDP to guide his/her career objectives.

**This workshop will be offered once every other month (fourth Thursday) and Postdoctoral Scholars are strongly encouraged to participate as part of their research training and education. Although this workshop is designed for postdoctoral scholars in the beginning stages of his/her training, all are welcome. **

If you are funded on an NIH mentored training program, NIH requires reporting of Postdoctoral IDP usage.
